Wŏnsan adalah kota pelabuhan dan basis militer di Korea Utara bagian tenggara. Kota ini merupakan ibu kota dari provinsi Kangwŏn. Pada tahun 2000, Wonsan diperkirakan memiliki jumlah penduduk sekitar 331.000 jiwa.
Ekonomi kota ini bergantung pada pabrik pemrosesan produk laut, perkapalan, perusahaan kimia, dan pabrik semen.
Wonsan terhubung dengan Pyongyang dan kota-kota Korea Utara lain oleh jalur kereta api elektrik dan sistem jalan tol.
