Waidya

Waidya (Sanskerta: वैद्य), adalah sebuah kata Sanskerta yang artinya "dokter" atau "tabib tradisional" yang handal dalam pengobatan Ayurweda.[1][2] Istilah tersevyt umum dipakai di India untuk menyebut orang yang menerapkan ayurweda, sebuah sistem pengobatan India asli.[3] Para praktisioner senior atau guru disebut Waidyarāja ("tabib-raja") sebagai tanda kehormatan. Para praktisioner yang memiliki pengetahuan lengkap dari teks-teks tersebut dan handal dalam praktiknya dikenal sebagai Pranaacharya. Beberapa keluarga kerajaan di India memiliki seorang waidya pribadi dan orang-orang tersebut disebut sebagai Rāja Waidya ("tabib milik raja").[4][5]
