Warna Pan-Arab

Warna Pan-Arab adalah hitam, putih, hijau, dan merah. Secara individual, masing-masing dari empat warna Pan-Arab bertujuan untuk mewakili aspek tertentu dari Bangsa Arab dan sejarahnya.[1] Hitam mewakili Standar Hitam yang digunakan oleh Kekhalifahan Rasyidin dan Abbasiyah, putih adalah warna dinasti Kekhalifahan Umayyah dan Fatimiyah,[2] Hijau adalah warna yang diasosiasikan dengan agama Islam yang merupakan agama utama bangsa Arab – dan oleh karena itu juga mewakili warna Kekhilafahan Rasyidin,[3][4] dan merah adalah warna dinasti Hasyim. Keempat warna tersebut juga memperoleh potensinya dari sebuah syair oleh penyair Irak abad ke-14 Safi al-Din al-Hilli: "Putih untuk tindakan kita, hitam untuk pertempuran kita, hijau untuk tamah kita, dan merah untuk pedang kita".[5]
