Yitzhak Baer (bahasa Ibrani: יצחק בער; 20 Desember 1888 – 22 Januari 1980) adalah seorang sejarawan Jerman-Israel dan pakar sejarah Yahudi Spanyol pada Abad Pertengahan.
Kehidupan awal
Baer lahir di Halberstadt, Provinsi Saxony, Jerman, pada 1888. Ia belajar filsafat, sejarah dan filologi klasik di Universitas Berlin, Universitas Strasbourg dan Universitas Freiburg.
Ia berimigrasi ke Mandat Palestina, kini Israel, pada 1930, dan mulai berceramah soal sejarah Yahudi pada Abad Pertengahan di Universitas Ibrani Yerusalem. Ia menjadi profesor sejarah abad pertengahan di universitas tersebut dari 1932 sampai 1945.
Penghargaan
- Pada 1945, Baer dianugerahi Penghargaan Bialik untuk pemikiran Yahudi.[1]
- Pada 1958, ia dianugerahi Penghargaan Israel, dalam kajian Yahudi.[2]
- Pada 1968, ia meraih penghargaan Yakir Yerushalayim (Warga Berjasa Yerusalem).[3]
