Youssef Kerkour (lahir 9 Juni 1978) adalah aktor asal Maroko-Inggris. Ia dikenal karena memerankan pengungsi Suriah, Sami, dalam serial drama komedi Home, sebuah peran yang membuatnya dinominasikan dalam British Academy Television Awards 2020.
Kehidupan awal
Kerkour tumbuh di Rabat, Maroko.[1] Ayahnya adalah seorang profesor matematika Maroko dan ibunya seorang guru sekolah bahasa Inggris; mereka bertemu di Prancis pada tahun 1960-an dan pindah bersama ke Maroko.[2]
Semasa kecil, Kerkour gemar menyanyi dan menari, dan mengidolakan Bruce Lee setelah ayahnya mengajaknya menonton film Enter the Dragon. Di awal masa remajanya, Kerkour mengikuti karyawisata sekolah ke Stratford-upon-Avon, Inggris, kota kelahiran William Shakespeare, dan menghadiri pementasan Henry V; ia menganggap pengalaman inilah yang menginspirasi kecintaannya pada dunia akting.[2]
Kerkour pindah ke Amerika Serikat untuk belajar psikologi di Bard College, tetapi menghabiskan sebagian besar waktunya mengambil kelas tari dan akting.[2] Ia mulai mengejar karier akting atas dorongan seorang profesor universitas.[3][2]
Kehidupan pribadi
Pada Juli 2021 , Kerkour telah menikah dan memiliki seorang putri berusia dua tahun. Ia menggambarkan dirinya sebagai "peminum kopi terkenal" di kafe-kafe Soho.[2]
