ZIP (format berkas)

ZIP adalah standar kompresi data (pemampatan data) (EN: data compression) yang paling populer, diciptakan oleh Phil Katz. Dengan pemampatan data, ukuran data akan lebih kecil sehingga penggunaan media penyimpanan atau transfer data apa pun akan menjadi lebih efisien. Berkas-berkas ZIP dapat diawamampatkan (EN: decompress) dengan berbagai macam program perangkat lunak bebas (EN: free software) seperti 7-ZIP atau Info-ZIP, perangkat lunak gratis (EN: freeware) maupun perangkat lunak kongsi (EN: shareware), seperti Winzip atau Winrar. Winzip juga mampu melakukan proses pemampatan dengan standar ZIP.
