"Faceshopping " is a song recorded by the Scottish recording artist and producer Sophie featuring vocals by Cecile Believe .[1] The song was the third and final single released ahead of Sophie's full-length debut album, Oil of Every Pearl's Un-Insides .[2] [3] [4] It was considered one of the best songs of the year by Mixmag [5] and The Line of Best Fit .[6]
Background and release
In October 2017, Sophie released the single "It's Okay to Cry ."[7] The song and accompanying music video marked the first instance Sophie's face and vocals appeared in the artist's own work. A second single, "Ponyboy," was released later in 2017.[8]
"Faceshopping" was released on 16 February 2018.[8] Oil of Every Pearl's Un-Insides was announced on 5 June and released ten days later.[2]
Music video
The music video for "Faceshopping," directed by Sophie and Aaron Chan, was released on 4 April 2018.[9] [10] The video features Sophie's face distorted as the song's lyrics and images of high-end beauty products and other commercial goods flash across the screen.[11] [12]
