Jabaquara Atlético Clube was founded on 15 November 1914 by Spanish immigrants[1] as Hespanha Foot Ball Club.[2] The club played their first game against Clube Afonso XIII, which were another club founded by Spanish immigrants.[1] The game ended in 1–1 draw.[1] The club were forced by the Brazilian government to change their name to Jabaquara Atlético Clube during World War II.[1] They changed their name on 7 November 1942.[3]
