District in Ayacucho, Peru
Chuschi District is one of six districts of the Cangallo Province in Peru.[1] It is known for being the site of the first attack perpetrated by the maoist terrorist organization Shining Path, initiating the Peruvian conflict.[2][3][4]
Geography
One of the highest peaks of the district is Saywa at approximately 4,800 m (15,700 ft). Other mountains are listed below:[5]

Ethnic groups
The people in the district are mainly indigenous citizens of Quechua descent. Quechua is the language which the majority of the population (97.92%) learnt to speak in childhood, 1.94% of the residents started speaking using the Spanish language (2007 Peru Census).[6]
