The village is currently on the frontline in the Russo-Ukrainian War and has come under Russian artillery fire multiple times, which has caused damage to buildings in the settlement and at least one civilian injury.[1][2][3] It has been contested between Russia and Ukraine since 14 June 2024 when Russian troops entered the eastern outskirts of the village.[4]
Demographics
According to the 2001 Ukrainian census, the population of the village was 2,171, of which 91.52% stated Ukrainian to be their native language, and 8.15% stated their native language to be Russian.[5]
