It look awful covering only 3 years, totally out of proportion. Why can't these be done by decades? After all, BMW releases a new suite of engines give or take twice every decade. - Michael Lenoch

Hi. To improve continuity and make the timeline work better for engines which straddle the changeover period of these timelines, I propose to add the 2000s to this timeline. Therefore, the 2000s be covered in both this timeline and the previous one.
