Zaman Anwar is a Pakistani professional wrestler. He won gold at the 2016 South Asian Games[1] and won a silver medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.[2] He participated at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.[3] He won Bronze medal in Greco Roman Seniors and Bronze medal in Freestyle Seniors at the 2016 Commonwealth Wrestling Championships Singapore. He won a silver medal at the 2019 13th South Asian Games Kathmandu - Pokhara in 125kg freestyle. He participated at the 2021 World Beach Wrestling Championships Greece and won the Bronze medal. He out powered his Afghan opponent Hameed Khanzada at the Bacha Khan Intl Peace Wrestling Championship 2012 in 120kg freestyle and won the gold medal. He has strong track record of National games. He won gold medal at 61st National Wrestling Championship in 2015. He won gold medal at 62nd National Wrestling Championship in 2016. He won gold medal at the National Wrestling Championship in 2018. He won the gold medal at the National Games in 2019. He won the gold medal at the Senior Wrestling Championship in 2022. He won the gold the medal at the 34th National Games Quetta in 2023. He is currently Rustam Pakistan and won this title at the 2023 Punjab Stadium, Lahore against his opponent Mohammad Asif Mochi.

Family background

Zaman Anwar belongs to a family that is in love with Desi Wrestling. His father Muhammad Anwar Butt served Pakistan Army, played from his unit, and won many titles in Wrestling. His uncle Akram Pehlwan was a known wrestler. His elder brother Zeeshan Anwar is 4 times National Champion of Taekwondo. His brothers Adnan Anwar and Arfan Anwar are also wrestlers.

Career

He started wrestling in 2006 while he was 15 years old. He started wrestling under the supervision of his father Muhammad Anwar Butt and his coach Shahid Pehlwan Atay wala Rustam Pakistan. He started fighting in Mud Wrestling and won many fights at that age. Later he started fighting professional wrestling and won under 17 titles.
