Nazwa
Nazwa własna planety, Amateru, została wyłoniona w publicznym konkursie. Jest to termin oznaczający świątynię japońskiej bogini Amaterasu. Zwycięską nazwę zaproponowali pracownicy Obserwatorium Astronomicznego Kamagari (Japonia)[2][3].
