Takson utworzyli Antonio Canals, Hern.-Mar., Gómez-Bolea i Xavier Llimona w 1997 r. Gatunkiem typowym jest Botryolepraria lesdainii. W 2025 r. do rodzaju zaliczono dwa gatunki[1]. Polska nazwa rodzaju według Lichenes of Poland. A fifth annotated checklist[2].
