Historia
Miasto Chapais powstało w 1955 roku, po odkryciu w okolicy złóż miedzi, srebra i złota przez Léo Springera. Nazwa miasta pochodzi od nazwiska Jeana-Charlesa Chapais, jednego z ojców założycieli Konfederacji Kanady.
