Systematyka i nazewnictwo
Pozycja w klasyfikacji według Index Fungorum: Cookeina, Sarcoscyphaceae, Pezizales, Pezizomycetidae, Pezizomycetes, Pezizomycotina, Ascomycota, Fungi[1].
Rodzaj Cookeina utworzył Otto Kuntze w 1891 r. Gatunkiem typowym jest Cookeina tricholoma (Mont.) Kuntze 1891[1]. Synonimy nazwy naukowej: Boedijnopeziza S. Ito & S. Imai, Peziza sect. Trichoscypha Cooke, Pilocratera Henn., Trichoscypha (Cooke) Sacc.[2]
Charakterystyka
Przedstawiciele tego rodzaju występują w obszarach tropikalnych i subtropikalnych. Spotykane są na opadłych gałęziach roślin okrytonasiennych, ich pniach i niekiedy na owocach[3]. Malezyjskie plemię Temuan spożywa owocniki niektórych gatunków tego rodzaju, stosuje je także jako przynętę do łowienia ryb[4].
