Rodzaj Cornutispora utworzył [ndrzej Pirożyński w 1973 r. Gatunkiem typowym jest Cornutispora limaciformis[1]. Nazwa polska według Wiesława Fałtynowicza[2]. Według Index Fungorum rodzaj Cornutispora jest synonimem rodzaju Spirographa Zahlbr. 1903[3].
