Taksonomia
Takson ten wprowadził (w randze rodziny – Cucullidae) Gottlieb August Wilhelm Herrich-Schäffer na kartach Systematische Bearbeitung der Schmetterlinge von Europa, zugleich als Text, Revision und Supplement zu J. Hübner's Sammlung europäischer Schmetterlinge[1][2].
Do podrodziny należy około 264 opisanych gatunków[2], zgrupowanych w sześciu rodzajach[2]:
- Cucullia Schrank, 1802 — 208 gatunków
- Shargacucullia Ronkay & Ronkay, 1992 — 42 gatunki
- Calocucullia Ronkay & Ronkay, 1987 — 1 gatunek
- Dolocucullia Poole, 1995 — 5 gatunków
- Opsigalea Hampson, 1906 — 7 gatunków
- Emariannia Benjamin, 1933 — 1 gatunek[2]
