Takson utworzyli w 2016 r. Marcel V. Locquin i Robert Lücking, Brendan P. Hodkison i Steven D. Leavitt. Jego typem nomenklatorycznym jest rodzaj Cystocoleus[2]. Według CABI databases, bazującego na Dictionary of the Fungi, jest to takson monotypowy z jednym rodzajem Cystocoleus Thwaites 1849[1], który jest także typem nomenklatorycznym tej rodziny[2]. Nadano mu polską nazwę pilśnik[3].
