Dactylonax – rodzaj ssaków z podrodziny Dactylopsilinae w obrębie rodziny lotopałankowatych (Petauridae).
Rozmieszczenie geograficzne
Rodzaj obejmuje gatunki występujące na Nowej Gwinei i w północno-wschodniej Australii[2][3][4].
Morfologia
Długość ciała (bez ogona) samic 17,6–25 cm, samców 20,7–27 cm, długość ogona samic 13,5–21,6 cm, samców 17,6–23,6, długość tylnej stopu samic 3,7–5,1 cm, samców 3,5–5,1, długość ucha samic 2,4–3 cm, samców 2,2–3 cm; masa ciała samic 216–420, samców 280–550 g[2][5][4].
Systematyka
Rodzaj zdefiniował w 1910 roku angielski zoolog Oldfield Thomas w artykule zatytułowanym Nowy rodzaj dla Dactylopsila palpator, opublikowanym w czasopiśmie The Annals and magazine of natural history[1]. Gatunkiem typowym jest (oznaczenie monotypowe) palcownik długopalcy (D. palpator).
Etymologia
Dactylonax: gr. δακτυλος daktulos ‘palec’[6]; ονυξ onux, ονυχος onukhos ‘pazur, szpon’[7].
