Dżins

Dżins (z ang. jeans), również teksas, denim – tkanina bawełniana wykonana w splocie skośnym, obecnie wykorzystywana przede wszystkim do produkcji ubrań dżinsowych.
Nazwa wywodzi się od francuskiego bleu de Genes, czyli „błękit genueński”, a nazwa denim pochodzi od francuskiego miasta Nîmes (de Nîmes = z Nîmes). W obu tych miejscach już od XVI wieku wytwarzano tkaninę o takim splocie[1].
Z tkaniny tej najczęściej produkuje się spodnie, tzw. dżinsy, lecz także bluzy, wiatrówki, kurtki i koszule. Charakteryzuje się ona stosunkowo dużą wytrzymałością. Polska odmiana dżinsu nazywana była teksasem[2].
