Pierwszy, którego okrzyknięto stanowym elektrykiem. 6 sierpnia 1890 wykonał pierwszy w historii wyrok na krześle elektrycznym. Straconym był William Kemmler. Był także pierwszym, który stracił tą metodą kobietę – Marthę Place.
Edwin Davis opatentował krzesło elektryczne własnej konstrukcji.
