Nazwa
Najstarsza miejscowość na wyspie Suðuroy. Według legendy duński król Frode dotarł do wybrzeży wyspy i rozbił tu obóz. Osada została nazwana na jego cześć. Historycy uważają, że nazwa Froðba pochodzi od nazwy Froðebøur, co oznacza Pole Frode.
