Rodzinę Cudoniaceae utworzył Paul Francis Cannon w 2001 r. Typem nomenklatorycznym jest rodzaj Cudonia Fr. 1849[1]. Według aktualizowanej klasyfikacji Species Fungorum do rodziny tej należą rodzaje[2]:
- Cudonia Fr. 1849 – hełmik
- Pachycudonia S. Imai 1950
- Spathularia Pers. 1797 – łopatnica
- Spathulariopsis Maas Geest. 1972
