Historia
Hrabstwo Moffat zostało wydzielone z hrabstwa Routt 27 lutego 1911. Zostało tak nazwane na cześć Davida Moffata, finansisty i przemysłowca. Jego kolej – Denver, Northwestern & Pacific Railway przyczyniła się do rozwoju przemysłu w Kolorado.
