IBM 601

IBM 601 – maszyna matematyczna produkcji koncernu IBM z roku 1931.

IBM 601 odczytywała dwie liczby ośmiocyfrowe z karty dziurkowanej i dziurkowała na tej samej karcie ich iloczyn. Wykonywała także dodawanie i odejmowanie. Ponieważ nie drukowała wyników była używana jako pomocnicza dla tabulatora lub maszyny księgującej. John Presper Eckert, który otrzymał w 1933 roku jeden z egzemplarzy tej maszyny, połączył ją z tabulatorem "Typ 285" i perforatorem "Typ 016" za pomocą urządzenia pośredniczącego własnej konstrukcji, tworząc w ten sposób pierwszą maszynę, zdolną do automatycznego wykonywania złożonych obliczeń naukowych.
