James Blount

Sir James Blount (ur. ok. 1452 w Barton Blount, zm. 1493)[1] – angielski rycerz, dowódca twierdzy Hames, znajdującej się w pobliżu Calais.

James Blount był trzecim synem Waltera Blounta, pierwszego barona Mountjoy[2]. W latach 1472–1475 oraz 1491-1492 zasiadał w Parlamencie jako przedstawiciel Derbyshire[3].

W maju 1476 roku został wraz z bratem Johnem mianowany dowódcą twierdzy Hames. Stanowisko to obejmował do 1484 roku[3][4]. Tamtego roku dołączył do stronnictwa Lancasterów i w trwającym konflikcie, znanym jako Wojna Dwóch Róż poparł Henryka Tudora. Blount wraz z Johnem de Vere hrabią Oxfordu i Williamem Beaumont dołączyli do przebywającego na wygnaniu we Francji Henryka, któremu zaoferowali przejęcie Hames[2]. Wraz z siłami Lancasterów Blount wylądował w 1485 roku w Milford Haven. Został wtedy pasowany na rycerza, mianowany nadleśniczym lasu Nedwood, a także otrzymał w zarządzanie wieś Tutbury[3]. W 1487 roku, po bitwie pod Stoke Field został chorążym króla Henryka VII Tudora[2][3].

Sir James Blount zmarł w 1493 roku[2].

Postać sir Jamesa Blounta pojawia się w sztuce Ryszard III, Williama Skahespeare’a[5].
