Systematyka i nazewnictwo
Pozycja w klasyfikacji według Index Fungorum: Pyronemataceae, Pezizales, Pezizomycetidae, Pezizomycetes, Pezizomycotina, Ascomycota, Fungi[1].
Rodzaj Kotlabaea utworzył Mirko Svrček w 1969 r.[1] Gatunkiem typowym jest Kotlabaea deformis (P. Karst.) Svrček 1969[1]. Według Index Fungorum rodzaj ten jest synonimem rodzaju Byssonectria, jednak nadal należą do niego niektóre gatunki[2].
