Sonchus wilmsii R.E.Fries, przedstawiciel podrodzaju opisanego przez Boulosa (Sonchus subgen. Origosonchus Boulos)

Loutfy Boulos (ur. 1932 w miejscowości Qena w Egipcie, zm. 27 kwietnia 2015 w Kairze)[1] – botanik egipski.

Dane biograficzne i działalność naukowa

Studiował na Uniwersytecie Kairskim. W 1963 otrzymał doktorat na Uniwersytecie w Montpellier. Wykładał botanikę na Uniwersytecie Jordańskim, Kuwejckim i Aleksandryjskim[1].

Zajmował się taksonomią roślin okrytozalążkowych. Był autorem monografii rodzaju Sonchus. Opracował florę Egiptu, a dla Flora Europaea – rodzaje Launaea i Sonchus[1]. Opisał kilkanaście nowych gatunków[2]. Znalazł w Egipcie stanowisko palmy Medemia argun, gatunku endemicznego dla Pustyni Nubijskiej, który przedtem znany był ze stanowisk w Sudanie oraz z pestek z grobowców faraonów[1].

Na jego cześć nazwano gatunek Crocus boulosii(inne języki)
