Początki Malwarebytes sięgają 2004 roku[4]. Przedsiębiorstwo zostało oficjalnie założone w styczniu 2008 roku przez Marcina Kleczynskiego(inne języki) oraz Bruce’a Harrisona[5]. W tymże roku wydano pierwszą wersję programu Malwarebytes Anti-Malware[4].
