Melanthrips – rodzaj wciornastków z podrzędu pokładełkowych i rodziny Melanthripidae[1] lub dziewięciorkowatych (Aeolothripidae)[2][3][4].
Morfologia
Ciało ciemne[2]. Głowa z co najmniej dwoma para długich szczecin za oczami[3]. Czułki dziewięcioczłonowe. Na członach trzecim i czwartym podłużne sensorium[2]. Człony czułków od siódmego do dziewiątego wyraźnie oddzielone od siebie. Głaszczki wargowe dwuczłonowe[3]. Głaszczki szczękowe trójczłonowe. Skrzydła jasne, szare lub przepasane. Siódmy sternit odwłoka z parą płatków położonych na w jego tylnokrawędziowej części. Pierwszy segment odwłoka samców bardzo długi[2]. Drugi człon stóp bez pazurkowatego zęba[2][3].
