Michael Winterbottom (ur. 29 marca 1961 w Blackburn) – brytyjski reżyser, scenarzysta i producent filmowy i telewizyjny.

Absolwent anglistyki na Uniwersytecie Oksfordzkim. Reżyserię filmową studiował następnie w Bristolu i Londynie^[1]. Za film Love Lies Bleeding (1993) otrzymał Silver Award na Nowojorskim Festiwalu Telewizyjnym. Jest także współwłaścicielem wytwórni filmowej Revolution Films^[1].

W roku 1998 był członkiem jury konkursu głównego na 51. MFF w Cannes

W latach 2012-2013 był także profesorem wizytującym programu Film i Telewizja w Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Trust na Uniwersytecie Oksfordzkim^[2].
