Nazwę tego taksonu utworzył Aleksandr Doweld w 2001 r. Typem nomenklatorycznym jest rodzaj Mucor Fresen. 1850[1]. Według aktualizowanej klasyfikacji Species Fungorum, która bazuje na Dictionary of the Fungi dklasa Mucoromycetes to takson monotypowy[2]:
