Newbie

Newbie – nowicjusz; slangowy termin, wywodzący się z armii amerykańskiej, oznaczający osobę początkującą, niedoświadczoną w danej dziedzinie. Najczęściej używany w żargonie informatycznym[1]. Zwykle określenie newbie nie ma nacechowania negatywnego a początkujący często są szanowani przez doświadczone osoby za chęci nauki i rozwoju[2].

Noob

Z pojęcia newbie wyprowadzono termin noob (zapis w leet speak: n00b) – określenie w slangu internetowym nacechowane negatywnie i oznaczające osobę, która jest początkująca lub jej umiejętności techniczne związanie z informatyką są niewielkie. Wraz ze wzrostem popularności internetu i komputerowych gier wieloosobowych słowo to zaczęło oznaczać także gracza o niskich umiejętnościach, osobę niedoświadczoną, która nie chce lub nie potrafi się rozwijać[3].
