Rodzaj blisko spokrewniony i wyodrębniony z rodzaju Otopappus Benth.[5][4] W obrębie rodziny astrowatych Asteraceae reprezentuje podrodzinę Asteroideae, plemię Heliantheae i podplemię Ecliptinae[4].
