Rodzaj Phaeomarasmius utworzył Aladár Scherffel w 1897 r. Gatunkiem typowym jest Phaeomarasmius excentricus Scherff. 1897[1]. Synonimy: Epicorticium Velen., Flocculina P.D. Orton, Marasmiopsis Henn.[2] Polską nazwę nadał Władysław Wojewoda w 1999 r.[3]
