W 1791 r. Johann Christian Daniel von Schreber utworzył takson Lichen sect. Physcia, w 1803 r. Michx. zmaienił go na rodzaj Physcia. Gatunkiem typowym jest Physcia tenella[1]. Nazwa polska według Wiesława Fałtynowicza[2]. Synonimy nazwy naukowej[3]:
