Klasę Pucciniomycetes utworzyli Robert Bauer, Dominik Begerow, José Paulo Sampaio, Michael Weiss i Franz Oberwinkler w 2006 r. Typem nomenklatorycznym jest rodzaj Puccinia Pers. 1794[1]. Według aktualizowanej klasyfikacji Species Fungorum bazującej na Dictionary of the Fungi do klasy Pucciniomycetes należą[3]:
