SC Margareten – austriacki klub szachowy z siedzibą w Wiedniu, trzykrotny mistrz kraju.
Historia
Klub powstał w 1948 roku[1]. W 1990 roku zadebiutował w Staatslidze (najwyższy poziom), zdobywając w swoim debiutanckim sezonie wicemistrzostwo kraju, za Merkurem Graz. Identyczny rezultat klub osiągnął w sezonie 1991/1992. W latach 1993–1995 Margareten przez trzy lata z rzędu zdobywał tytuł mistrza Austrii[2]. Ponadto w sezonach 1993–1995 zespół uczestniczył także w Pucharze Europy, docierając w 1993 roku do fazy finałowej, w której austriacki klub zajął siódme miejsce[3]. W latach 1996 i 1997 Margareten był klasyfikowany na drugiej pozycji w krajowych mistrzostwach[2]. Klub wycofał się z rozgrywek Staatsligi A przed szóstą kolejką sezonu 1997/1998 z przyczyn finansowych (wycofanie głównego sponsora – Winterthur)[1][4][5].
Zawodnikami klubu byli m.in.: Egon Brestian[6], Andreas Dückstein[6], Anatolij Karpow[6], Wiktor Korcznoj[6], Karel Mokrý[6], Petar Popović[6], Ivan Sokolov[7] i Nikolaus Stanec[6].
