Toponimia
Nazwa pochodzenia słowiańskiego, poświadczona źródłowo w formie Zaniz/Sagiz (1256), Saincen/Zaincen (1291), Zaeghenze (1310), Sagintze (1313), Zaghenitze (1338). Pierwotne połabskie *Zajęce od *zajęc „zając”[1].
