Acer tenellum adalah spesies mapel Asia yang langka. Tumbuhan ini merupakan tanaman asli Tiongkok (Hubei dan Sichuan).[2]
Acer tenellum adalah pohon kecil yang menggugurkan daun, tumbuh hingga setinggi 7 meter dengan kulit kayu berwarna abu-abu yang halus. Daunnya tidak majemuk, dengan lebar dan panjang hingga 6 cm, tipis, biasanya memiliki 3 lobus namun terkadang tidak ada sama sekali.[2][3]
