Apogon adalah dalah satu genus ikan dalam keluarga Apogonidae. Anggotanya adalah salah satu ikan yang paling umum ditemukan di terumbu karang.[2] Lebih dari 200 spesiesnya telah diklasifikasikan sebagai anggota beberapa subgenus dalam genus ini.[2] Beberapa subgenusnya seperti Ostorhinchus telah ditingkatkan statusnya menjadi genus tersendiri,[3] yang didalamnya terdaat lebih dari 50 spesies ikan dalam genus tersebut.[4]
