Sungai Arve mengalir sepanjang 100 km (62 mil) melintasi Prancis, di département Haute-Savoie, dan (untuk beberapa kilometer) di Swiss. Merupakan anak sungai kiri dari Rhône.
Bermuara di Alpen Graia, dekat perbatasan Swiss, sungai ini menerima air dari banyak glasier lembah Chamonix (terutama Mer de Glace) sebelum mengalir barat laut ke Rhône di bawah Jenewa.
Karena salah satu anak sungai ini, Rhône, memiliki konsentrasi batuan silt di dalam airnya, sungai ini membentuk pemandangan yang sama dengan mulut Sungai Amazon.
Arve mengalir melalui kota berikut: Chamonix, Sallanches, Cluses, Bonneville, Annemasse, dan Jenewa.
