Baduyut (Trichosanthes villosa) adalah salah satu tunbuhan dalam genus Trichosanthes, famili Cucurbitaceae.[1] [2]

Deskripsi Fisik

Tumbuhan ini dapat tumbuh hingga sepanjang 24 m. Hampir seluruh bagiannya memiliki rambut berwarna kuning. Daunnya berbentuk bundar telur dengan pangkal daun yang menjantung. Buahnya berbentuk elips dengan ukuran sekitar 15 cm. Bagian luar buahnya sangat tebal dan berkayu, berwarna hijau keputihan, atau kuning pucat dengan garis-garis tebal berwarna putih. Bagian dalamnya berwarna putih, sedikit berserat dan rasanya manis.

Persebaran dan Habitat

Baduyut tersebar mulai dari Yunnan, Indochina, Thailand, Kalimantan (terutama Kinabalu), Jawa, dan Kepulauan Sunda Kecil. Tumbuhan ini dijumpai di batas hutan, hutan sekunder, dan di tempat-tempat lembap pada ketinggian hingga 1.500 mdpl.

Kegunaan

Baduyut juga dimanfaatkan secara tradisional sebagai obat flu dan mencret.
