Barringtonia adalah genus tumbuhan berbunga dalam famili Lecythidaceae yang pertama kali dideskripsikan pada tahun 1775.[2][3] Genus tumbuhan ini berasal dari Afrika, Asia Selatan, Australia, dan berbagai pulau di Samudra Pasifik dan Samudra Hindia.[1][4] Genus ini dinamakan demikian dengan tujuan memperingati Daines Barrington.[5]
