Cabai facing heaven (nama Tionghoa: 朝天椒; pinyin: cháotiānjiāo, juga dikenal sebagai 指天椒; pinyin: zhǐtiānjiāo yang berarti "cabai yang menunjuk ke langit") adalah sejenis cone pepper (cabai kerucut), sekelompok cabai berbentuk kerucut dengan tingkat kepedasan sedang dalam spesies Capsicum annuum.[1] Spesies ini berasal dari Amerika Tengah.[2]

Taksonomi

Cabai facing heaven adalah jenis cabai kerucut, suatu kelompok dalam spesies Capsicum annuum. Cabai kerucut terkadang diklasifikasikan sebagai varietas botani, yaitu Capsicum annuum var. conoides. Varietas ini bukanlah nama yang diterima dalam Global Biodiversity Information Facility atau Plants of the World Online milik Kew Gardens.[3][4] Cabai kerucut sekarang disebut sebagai Capsicum annuum "grup conoides".[1][5]

Cabai facing heaven dikenali dari bentuknya yang kerucut dan warna merah gelap pada buah yang sudah matang.[6]

Kegunaan

Sumber sejarah menggambarkan buahnya sebagai "sangat pedas", meskipun rasanya kemungkinan telah berubah seiring waktu.[7]
