Caesalpinia adalah salah satu genus tumbuhan berbunga dalam famili Fabaceae. Genus ini berisi 10 spesies tumbuhan yang tersebar dari Meksiko tenggara melalui Amerika Tengah ke Kolombia, Ekuador, dan Peru; serta ke Kuba, Hispaniola, dan Bahama.[2] Genus ini berisi tanaman kayu tropis atau subtropis. Nama generiknya ditunjukan untuk menghormati ahli botani, dokter, dan filsuf asal Italia, Andrea Cesalpino (1519–1603).[3]
