Cereus aethiops adalah spesies kaktus yang ditemukan dari Uruguay hingga Argentina.[3]
Deskripsi
Cereus aethiops tumbuh seperti semak, jarang bercabang dan mencapai tinggi pertumbuhan hingga 2 meter. Tunas yang berbentuk silindris, berwarna biru tua hingga hijau tua ini tumbuh tegak, terkadang terbaring dan memiliki diameter 2 hingga 4 sentimeter. Terdapat tujuh hingga delapan rusuk yang terbagi menjadi tonjolan. Areola pada tanaman ini sering kali berwarna hampir hitam. Dua hingga empat duri tengah berwarna hitam dengan panjang hingga 2 sentimeter. Sembilan hingga dua belas duri radial berwarna abu-abu dengan ujung yang lebih gelap atau hitam. Duri tersebut mencapai panjang hingga 10 milimeter.
Bunga berwarna putih hingga merah muda pucat dengan panjang hingga 20 sentimeter. Buah berwarna merah berbentuk telur dengan panjang hingga 6 sentimeter.

Cereus aethiops tersebar di kaki bukit Andes di bagian utara dan tengah Argentina.
Taksonomi
Deskripsi pertama oleh Adrian Hardy Haworth diterbitkan pada tahun 1830.[4] Sinonim nomenklaturnya adalah Piptanthocereus aethiops (Haw.) F.Ritter (1980).
Daftar Merah Spesies Terancam IUCN mencatat spesies ini sebagai Risiko Rendah (LC)[1]
