Cereus fricii adalah sebuah spesies tumbuhan dalam genus Cereus yang berasal dari Venezuela.[2]
Deskripsi
Cereus fricii tumbuh menyerupai pohon, bercabang lebat, dan mencapai ketinggian hingga 8 meter. Batang utamanya dapat mencapai tinggi 2 meter dengan diameter 50 sentimeter. Tunasnya yang silindris dan hampir tegak berwarna hijau tua. Terdapat empat hingga enam rusuk yang menonjol dan berlekuk secara horizontal. Areola besar yang terdapat di sana berjarak 1 hingga 2 sentimeter satu sama lain dan ditutupi oleh bulu halus berwarna putih. Tiga duri sub-sentralnya berwarna cokelat tua dan akan berubah menjadi abu-abu seiring waktu. Salah satu duri menghadap ke bawah, sementara sisanya berdiri hampir tegak. Sekitar tujuh duri radialnya berwarna cokelat.
Bunganya berwarna krem dengan panjang hingga 9 sentimeter. Buahnya, yang memiliki panjang hingga 6 sentimeter, berwarna seperti warna salmon.
Persebaran
Cereus fricii tersebar di wilayah utara Venezuela.
Taksonomi
Deskripsi pertama tanaman ini diterbitkan pada tahun 1930 oleh Curt Backeberg. Sinonim nomenklatur untuk spesies ini adalah Cephalocereus fricii (Backeb.) Borg (1951) dan Subpilocereus fricii (Backeb.) Guiggi (2010).
Dalam Daftar Merah Spesies Terancam IUCN, spesies ini diklasifikasikan sebagai "Rentan (VU)".[1]
