Chelyocarpus ulei adalah spesies pohon palem yang berasal dari wilayah barat Amazon.

Deskripsi

Chelyocarpus ulei adalah palem berbatang tunggal dengan daun berbentuk kipas. Batangnya memiliki tinggi 1 hingga 8 meter (3 ft 3,4 in hingga 26 ft 3,0 in) dan diameter 4 hingga 7 sentimeter (1,6 hingga 2,8 in).[2] Tanaman ini ditemukan di wilayah hutan hujan, biasanya di bawah ketinggian 500 m. Spesies ini banyak ditemukan di Brasil Utara, Kolombia, Ekuador, dan Peru.[3] Tanaman ini dipanen untuk membuat garam dari abu batang yang dibakar.[4]

Chelyocarpus ulei dideskripsikan oleh Carl Dammer pada tahun 1920.[1]
